ОписаниеLong before the international community recognised C.Y. Lee as the architect of the world's tallest skyscraper — the 508-metre-tall Taipei 101 — his distinct buildings were already turning heads in Asia. Taking his cues from Chinese pagodas, old, square-holed Chinese copper coins, and even the shape of Chinese characters, C.Y. Lee has developed a brand of modern Chinese architecture that few of his compatriots can match. In the mid-1980s, after more than a decade of working as an architect in the US, C.Y. Lee returned to Taiwan with the intention of creating something distinct. Since that time, C.Y. Lee's memorable buildings have successfully fused the traditional with the modern, firmly placing him among today's architectural innovators. This major monograph presents the firm's major projects in full colour, with architects' sketches, plans and descriptive text. It includes a number of pieces written by C.Y. Lee.
